WPPI 2012 – Wedding Photography convention @ MGM Las Vegas – personal diary and review

WPPI 2012 Chicago wedding photography

So we just found out that our flight back to Chicago got cancelled and we won’t be flying back till tomorrow. We have a “wonderful” night to spent at the Las Vegas airport. I thought I would take the time to write a post about Sasha’s and mine experience at WPPI 2012. So let’s start from the beginning… For those of you that don’t know what WPPI is, it is the biggest wedding and portrait photography organization. It stands for Wedding and Portrait Professionals International. I have been a member of WPPI for over a year and this was the first WPPI conference that I attended. The event...

Photo session with Father Joseph in Barysaw in Belarus

Editorial photo session with father Joseph missionary in belarus

I have known Father Joseph for over 28 years since I was a little altar boy serving to masses in our Parish in Warsaw. Father Joseph became a very close friend of my family in the 80s when Poland was just after the Communist State of War and people were lacking everything from food and clothes to the most basic items such as soap and toilet paper. Since back then I was going to a French grammar school and very fluent in French, very quickly I was the translator and kind...

Since I tried to travel light I didn't bother to bring a tripod with me (note to myself: buy a super light carbon fiber tripod). To get any decent exposure with adequate depth of field in this church I had to raise the ISO on my Canon 5D Mark II to its highest value:...

So after a week in Paris where I spent wonderful Christmas with my family it's time to say goodbye to Paris. I posted few photos in my previous post and and below are few more that I was able to quickly post process. Yes, I am at the airport now waiting for my flight to Budapest. I am supposed to meet there the one and only Viki Moon. She is my wonderful friend besides being a great stylist, make-up artist, and hair stylist - a woman of many talents. I know...

Christmas in Paris with unusual winter-holiday weather

Paris Metro by WASIO photography

I've lived in Chicago for 18 years now, but unfortunately none of my closest family lives in the States. For the most part this is not a nice situation to be in. However, there is one big Pro.... spending Christmas with my family in Europe. As they are spread across France, Belgium, and Poland every year we decide to celebrate Christmas somewhere else. This year we're spending Christmas in Paris with my sister's family house. Of course winter may not be the best time to visit Paris, but this city has so much magic that even the worst weather is tolerable. I have been to Paris over a dozen of times...
