3 Tips For Your Chicago Summer Engagement Photos
Our favorite time in the city is the beginning of summertime. After everything blooms and all you see is a beautiful colored city. Also, the weather is pleasant and comfortable to photograph in. While we were in Chicago for a weekend wedding, we also got to photograph these awesome Chicago summer engagement photos. We met with Kate and Igor at the crack of dawn to experience an empty city. There is nothing better than having the city to yourself at sunrise. If you know us, we always avoid the bean by any means. The only time we will ever photograph at the bean is at sunrise. This is the only time it is not overcrowded with tourists, weddings and quinceaneras.
Millennium Park is a gorgeous place because it offers so much beauty all in walking distances. After photographing by the bean, we walked over the Prairie Park which was bursting with color. This is probably our favorite location in the city. This spot offers wonderful nature with a dramatic city skyline backdrop. Also, since we came here at sunrise, we got to experience this treasure of an area all to ourselves. This allowed us to talk the beautiful landscape photos that are filled with nature and skyline. Here are 3 tips for your Chicago summer engagement photos:
1. Schedule your session for the warmer seasons in Chicago
Part of having an amazing experience for your engagement session is feeling comfortable. We don't know too many people that feel comfortable in freezing temperatures outdoors. Chicago is a gorgeous city but it is best enjoyed when warm outside. We recommend scheduling your session for mid spring all the way through mid fall. Also, be sure to check the calendar to see which events are going on in the city so they do not interfere with your engagement photographs.
2. Beat the crowd & have a sunrise session
When we think of a Chicago engagement session, historic landmarks such as the Wrigley building come to mind. If you are having your photographs taken during the summertime, remember that Chicago is crowded with tourists that are trying to take the city in. The best way to avoid the craziness of the city is to schedule your session at sunrise. So, for example, if the sun is scheduled to rise at 5:15am, meet at 5am to be ready to capture the gorgeous sunrise of the city. Kate and Igor are true troopers to wake up so early, come down to the city and share their love for one another in front of the camera.
3. Invest in your outfit
These are photos you will enjoy and cherish for the rest of your lives! Do you want to look back at the photographs and question why you decided to wear your pajamas to your sunrise session? We always recommend for our couples to bring nice outfits. A lot of the ladies rent their gorgeous gowns from Rent The Runway. It's important to have balance in your outfits, if a gown is being worn for the photographs, make sure a nice tailored suit accompanies the look. NO BEAT UP SNEAKERS WITH YOUR SUITS. Avoid crazy patterns on clothes as the camera does not render the pattern as well.
We hope you enjoy their session. If you would love to have Chicago summer engagement photos, please contact us here.
