Couple of weeks ago my Canon 1Dx camera died, froze, whatever you would like to call it. Basically it stopped working completely, with no sign of life. This happened during a wedding but thanks to all our backup equipment this failure did not have any impact on our ability to continue photographing that special day. I tried to reset the camera throughout the day but was not successful.
When we got home that night, I googled Canon 1Dx reset but unfortunately no information was coming up. So on Monday I called Canon CPS. We are CPS Platinum members so we can always count on super fast service. Initially I thought we would have to send the camera for repair to CPS but Canon CPS specialist taught me how to reset the camera. So I thought I would share this info in case anybody faces this issue (of course I wish it never happens again to anybody;).
So here are the steps:
1. Turn off the camera
2. Remove both memory cards
3. Remove the lens
4. Remove the battery. Wait few second and put it back on
5. The camera should come turn back on.
Sometimes, one has to do it twice or leave the battery out longer but this is a pretty nice way to reset your camera in case something get out of synch. I am not sure whether this also works on other Canon cameras, but I guess it should. Let us know whether this was useful or whether these steps also works on other Canon cameras. I know these are simple steps but when your camera stops working…
