6 month sessions are fun to photograph, the baby is starting to sit on their own, smile and laugh out loud. Even though 6 months sessions are more flexible in terms of the location, I still wanted to share some 6 month photo shoot ideas. At this point in a baby's life, they may not be such stable sitters. It's important to use appropriate props to help them sit up comfortably and capture this fun milestone. Luckily in this situation baby Benjamin was able to fit into some of the props I actually use for newborns. I made sure he was comfortable and had enough support to sit up. It's ok if they don't smile for every photo. The point is to capture their personality at their current milestone in life. Benjamin was more of a headshot model than a laugh-out-loud baby and I enjoyed every expression he had to share with me. Benjamin also has an older brother, Miles, who is two years old and has lots of energy. When they first got to the studio, I let Miles run around and explore. When he was ready, we added him into some of the photographs. It was awesome to see all the smiles Miles had to share! Even though the session is about Benjamin, I really enjoy capturing the relationship between siblings and then also getting a couple of family photographs at the end. Remember, as photographers we are creating heirloom memories for the family to look at for the rest of their lives. Check out the photographs below and please don't hesitate to leave a comment either about questions on lighting or to simply share your thoughts on what you see below.
