Chicago Fall Engagement Photos
We’ve been so lucky to have this amazing California style weather in Chicago. The whole month of September has offered us the perfect Indian summer weather. Therefore, we love the month of September for engagement photos. We wanted to capture Adriana and Garrett in a “romantic fall feel.” Including both nature and the iconic city architecture is what we are known for. The Art Institute was exuding gorgeous fall golden colors. The colors matched their color palette and gave the photos the romantic feel we wanted to achieve. For the sunset portion, we wanted to make sure we had a perfect view of the city skyline at the golden hour. Milton Lee Olive Park was offers the perfect views and the colors were just right.
Adriana and Garrett have a natural chemistry between them. We think the photos speak for themselves. Honestly, we did give them some direction but they were never stiff and they made our job super easy. One of our favorite aspects of being and engagement and wedding photographer is that we get to connect with our couples on a deeper level. Here’s a glimpse into their beautiful love story shared by Adriana:
“Garrett and I met five years ago in 2012. A good friend of mine was turning 21 so a couple of friends and I decided to drive down to Western Illinois University to celebrate. When we arrived I was introduced to his roommates, and Garrett was one of them. We spent that entire weekend hanging out together and haven’t stopped talking since :) We always joked that we were destined to meet one another and even though we were both young we knew we were soulmates.
The next five years have been an amazing journey of highs and lows. We motivated each other through school and into our careers. We both had strong goals for our future and plans of marriage. It seems so surreal now that it’s finally going to happen!
This summer, in June, Garrett and I had the amazing opportunity to go to Italy with my parents. I think I was more excited than Garrett because I knew everything that he would see would leave him speechless, and it did. We spent the first three days in Rome taking in all the beautiful history the city has to offer before departing further south to visit my grandma in Agropoli.
Months before this trip took place; Garrett and I had already spoken with my parents and he asked for their blessing, which they of course said yes. From then on Garrett had been planning the proposal with my mother and knew exactly when he was going to do it. I of course had been speculating that he may be proposing on this trip, but after the first week had passed and nothing had happened I began to think otherwise.
Our second week in Italy we drove to the beautiful Amalfi coast to one of my favorite places in the world, Ravello. My mother had told Garrett this was my favorite place from a previous visit to Italy a few years prior. The day we arrived we took off to see Villa Cimbrone and I could not wait for Garrett to see how beautiful the gardens and views were. Once we made it to the top of the villa, we gathered on this amazing terrace called, The Belvedere of Terrace of Infinity, which overlooks the coast line and its incredible panoramic view of the ocean. We started taking pictures and videos and waiting for other tourists to take theirs when we finally had our turn in the center of the terrace balcony. It was in that moment that as my parents were taking pictures of us, Garrett got down on his knee and proposed! I was completely speechless and in tears when saying YES! It was definitely a memorable moment that neither one of us will ever forget!
Now we are planning our July 21, 2018 wedding and could not be happier! Our friends and family share the same excitement with us. Even though wedding planning can be stressful at times, we know that day will come and go quickly and we can’t wait to take it all in. Thankfully, we have the best photographers in Chicago to capture every moment and every detail se we can remember it forever!”
Is that not the most perfect proposal story you’ve ever read? We are beyond lucky to be part of Adriana’s and Garrett’s special day. Stay tuned for their future wedding blog post from the Madonna Della Strada Chapel in Loyola University and Concorde Banquets. This Chicago fall engagement photos session was photographed by top Chicago engagement and wedding photographers, Marcin and Magdalena.
