It was so much fun to photograph Courtney's and Mitch's destination engagement session in Chicago. Courtney and Mitch live in California and flew in for the weekend for their session. They had met in optometry school in Chicago 5 years ago; got engaged in New York and will have their wedding in California at Franciscan Gardens located in the historic little town of San Juan Capistrano in Southern California next year in June. Having met in Chicago, it meant a lot to Courtney and Mitch to have their engagement photos set in the city where they fell in love.
They met in optometry school in Chicago 5 years ago. Even though the dates which they recall meeting each other were different; Courtney remembers meeting Mitch in August on the first night of orientation a few days prior to school starting. Mitch had a few too many drinks and went around talking about his home state of Iowa for what seemed like hours. Mitch remembers meeting Courtney a few months later in December when Courtney refreshed his memory about his LONG Iowa ramblings. And as they say, the rest is history!
While in New York for an optometry conference, Mitch took the opportunity to choose a romantic setting for their proposal. As the sun was setting, at the top of Rockefeller Center with the Empire State building in the background, Mitch got down on one knee and proposed. Mitch had arranged for a friend to be there to capture the special moment.
