San Diego Wedding Planner – MHM Weddings Feature
A few weeks ago, we had the honor of having Mallory from MHM Weddings in our studio. We got to take some portraits of her and do an interview to feature her on our blog. It will be her one year anniversary of being a wedding planner this coming December. Even though this is her first year of owning her own business, she has a background in hospitality management. She is a total sweetheart and extremely easy to work with. Check out her work on the link below to see how much she has accomplished in under one year!
Business Name: MHM Weddings
When did you start?: December of 2016
How many planners are in your company?: Just me :)
How many weddings do you plan per year?: Average around 12 a year, but I am looking to meet with more amazing couples and try to aim for 20 in 2018!
What services do you provide?: Typically, I offer just month-of planning services, or rather "day-of coordinating" for couples who have already planned the majority of their wedding, but need help finessing the fine details and with their wedding day timeline. However, I would love to do more full-service wedding planning as I have a hospitality management background and would love to partake in venue searches!
What is your most popular service?: My most popular service is the Charming Package (at $800), which includes all on-site coordination and management on the wedding day. I also offer the Stellar and Lavish Planning Packages, which range from $1,200 to $1,400 and includes the rehearsal dinner, the Charming Package, and unlimited amount of hours from the coordinator on your wedding day. This is definitely the most preferred option for couples looking to get an all-inclusive experience from their wedding day coordinator!
Do you focus solely on SoCal or destination weddings also?: Mainly just Southern California, but I would love to do a destination wedding someday! It would be great to branch out in San Francisco and up north, too!
What is the most extravagant wedding you planned?: https://malloryheather.blog/2017/07/03/downbythebayside-shoot/ it was chic and elegant and I had the opportunity to work with some of my favorite vendors, like Grace Loves Lace bridal gowns and Frost Me Gourmet! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a gown and an amazing wedding cake (or cupcakes)!
Tell us about any awards or achievements that you're most proud of: I'm just proud of myself for getting the courage to start my own business, to take a leap of faith and do something I never thought I would be able to do. It takes a lot of work, dedication, and motivation, but it's all worth it in the end. It hasn't been a year since MHM Weddings launched, but already I feel like I've learned so much about the industry, myself, and my business in a brief amount of time.
Share the link of the wedding you are most proud of and why?: Oh goodness, I don't like picking favorites! However, I will say that when I did a wedding out in Temecula this year, the couple was so fun and absolutely adorable. They truly made me feel like I was providing the best service possible, I was overwhelmed with gratitude, and it was such an honor to coordinate their amazing day.
What are your top 3 tips for couples getting married?:
- Hire a wedding planner! You have probably heard this one a million times, but no one is kidding around here–it might just be the best investment and money spent on your wedding day!
- Stay Calm, and Take a Break–take time with each other that doesn't revolve around flowers and picking linens out for your reception. Go for a walk on the beach with your partner, take time to hang out with your loved ones, and do something that makes you feel calm and in control (because sometimes wedding planning can be a stressful process).
- Don't feel obligated or pressured to have an engagement party, a bridal party, or invite your friend's boyfriend whom you never met because they wanted to bring a plus one. It's both of your days, and ultimately it's up to you on what you would like to do and how you want to celebrate each other!
