Last year I had a pleasure to photograph a wedding of Georgene and Neil. Georgene and Neil live in California but the beautiful bride was from Chicago. The wedding ceremony tool place in Chicago's Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. I absolutely love orthodox churches and our own orthodox cathedral is truly breath taking as well. The wedding reception was in equally beautiful Country Squire Banquets in Grayslake.
What I really wanted to share about this wedding is the great idea that Georgene and Neil had for the wedding party after the first few dances. Few baskets of colorful flip flops were brought up to the dance floor. Everybody, especially girls wearing those beautiful but not always the most comfortable stilettos, could say bye-bye to foot-pain and start dancing in comfort. I thought this was a brilliant idea especially after seeing so many people taking off their shoes and switching to those comfy flip flops. Parents of the groom were the first ones to change and enjoy dancing even more.
The second fun thing I wanted to share is their fun groom's cake in the shape of a Sierra Nevada 6-pack. I am not sure which shop created this beauty but most likely it was from Tipsy Cake that is the absolute master of custom cakes for any occasions. Check out my blog about my custom birth cake
On a totally side note… I'm always interested in finding why certain things are called what they are called. So for example why Stilettos are called Stilettos. Well, the origin of this word is from Italian and before that from Latin. Stilettos are short knives with a long and thin blade. In the Middle Ages Stilettos were secondary weapon of knights. So here it is a small piece of information that you can share with friends:)
