Chicago Fitness Fashion photo shoot at Hifi Personal Fitness Center
Few weeks my friend Dominique Vien who is a great dress designer and fitness fanatic asked me to work with her on a fashion with fitness concept. I met Dominique some ago at some other photo session with exotic animals when we photographed models with snakes and spiders. We got along so well that we decided we would work together again. That's how this photo session concept was born.
Since Dominique is a fitness fanatic she has a lot of friends that are super fit and in top notch shape. For this session I worked with two models – Chris and Maxine. Maxine has a degree in Kinesiology and right now is actually pursuing her Masters in Kinesiology as well. For those wondering what kinesiology is, it's the science of human movement. Maxine has been training for over 3 years now and is now a personal trainer at HiFi. She used to work at Fitness Formula Clubs and David Barton Gym. In other words, she is a well educated and experienced personal trainer. Can it get any better when you combine it with her beauty!? yeah, this was a rhetorical question:)
My male model was Chris San Juan. Chris is an engineer but he's been competing in body building competitions for 5 years now. Chris' biggest achievement so far is winning his first National 1st Place in a National Show in 2010. He also got the 3rd place in a pro qualifier competition which only two spots away to obtain his Pro licence. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Chris. Even though I am not a huge fan on body building competitions I admire people with dedication and goals. And to be honest, those body builders look pretty normal every day without that spray/black/greasy look during their competitions:)
For the photo session HiFi Personal Fitness was so nice and allowed us to shoot there. HiFi is a 30,000 sqft privately owned fitness club to personal training. It is nicely located in Chicago River North neighborhood. I have to admit that everybody at HiFi was extremely nice. Not only did they allow us to photograph there but they were actively involved in setting up the photo setups, lighting, and concepts. It was a true pleasure working there.
Photographing at a fitness club is usually pretty challenging because of wall of mirrors surrounding the whole place. So avoiding reflections of the lights or myself is not always that easy. Below are some of the photos we were able to create.
